Last Day!!

It's always sad to leave a job. For some people it's exciting, but for me it's bittersweet. I walked into work today to see a big poster across the front of the desk saying "Miss Katie we'll miss you sooooo much!!!". The preschool kids made it and drew on it, put their handprints, and someone drew a pumpkin. I called the kids "pumpkin" all the time. Then I went into one of the Toddler rooms, and one little girl came running up and said "Miss Katie" with her arms open wide!! I melted and picked her up and gave her a hug. I'll miss the job - it was fun and definitely different from what I'm used to. But I know that God has HUGE plans for me during the deployment.

On to other things. I went home for lunch today. Michael was off today because our household goods were due to arrive sometime between 8am and 5pm. While I was home the truck pulled up so I stayed behind to check the big stuff out. One dreser came damaged - when they shipped it from the states the leg broke off. So we have to fill out a claim form. I have to check out the other stuff because we only have 70 days to report broken things. At least we got my bed so we'll have something a bit more comfortable.

We have a great weekend planned of organizing our apartment and going through clothes. How exciting, huh?!?!? Gotta get this stuff done before Michael leaves. Makes my life a bit easier when he does.

That's it from here. I'm still promising to get pics up. Got some good ones of Jessi and from the New York Auto Show.

Back to the grindstone!!! :(

So it's back to life for the Honsberger's. We landed safely on Sunday afternoon. Sad to say we had to fly coach from Newark to Frankfurt. Then it was off to work on Monday moring for the both of us. We didn't get much sleep on Sunday night, since Stud wanted us to pay attention to him instead of sleeping.

This is my last week of work. It's bittersweet to say the lease. There are a few parents who have told me that they're sad to see me go, but completely understand why. I'll definitely miss the kids and some of my coworkers.

Michael is busy. We haven't been home before 8pm for the past 2 nights. Tonight is a big meeting for about 3 hours that we both have to attend. It has to do with the upcoming deployment. Michael's company is getting themselves ready. He got his anthrax shot yesterday and will start his malaria pills next Monday. Keep him in your prayers as it's getting down to the wire. I cannot post detail here, but it will happen in the next 2 weeks.

I will be flying out of Italy on May 20th after Andrew& Patti come for their visit. I'm looking forward to being stateside during the deployment to be with family and friends, but I know it will be a tough 15+ months.

I promise as soon as I can that I will post pictures from our vacation. We had such a great time visiting with friends and family. For those of you we were able to see, thanks so much for taking time from your busy schedules - Michael and I really appreciated it. For those that we weren't able to see, we're so sorry. I hope to see you while I'm home.

Have a great day!!!!

Happy Easter!!!!

Happy Easter from New Jersey!!! Yes. we are stateside. We arrived last night and surprised my mom. Her face was priceless. She wasn't sure what to do. Dad was in on it, so he was expecting the noise coming in the house.

We had a great flight. When we got to Frankfurt, Germany, we were bumped to Business Class. On Lufthansa the seats are the kind that you can fully recline in and you have awesome leg room. So needless to say, I got some great sleep for about 4 hours. And the food was amazing!!! We had cloth napkins on our trays!! Michael and I are not going to get used to it though.....but it was nice to get to experience it.

So that's about all for now. We're going to Asbury Park today, then family are coming to the house for dinner, we're hoping that Steve will be able to join us. My Alison and Jessi are coming this afternoon and spending the night, so it will be great to spend some time with them.

We wish you a blessed Easter!!!

It was so nice to have him in the house last night. We were up late cathcing up on what happened while he was away, and on his training. Will try to post more soon.

Happy Day....at least tomorrow

Tomorrow will be a happy day in the Honsberger house. You see, my wonderful husband comes home tomorrow evening!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited. It's been a long 5 weeks. They're thinking they'll be back between 5 and 6 pm, which is great because then if he's feeling up to it maybe we can go out for dinner!

So that's it here. It's been a crazy 2 days so far. My house is still somewhat clean. I need to swiffer tonight before Michael comes back.

Til next time......
